The British film “Oliver Twist,” which was banned in several European countries, and whose showing has been protested by Jewish organizations in Canada and the United States; has been banned by the Province of Quebec, City Councillor Max Segler, told the closing session of the eighth national convention of the Canadian Jewish Congress last night.
The action was taken, Mr. Segler said, with the permission of Quebec Premier Maurice Duplessis, on the grounds that the film tends to create disunity and racial prejudice. Samuel Bronfman was re-elected president of the Congress.
