Israel’s Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will visit London at the invitation of his British counterpart, Gordon Brown.
Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad also will be in the British capital next week for an investment conference, which is scheduled to be opened by Brown.
The British prime minister has been a longtime supporter of what he refers to as “the economic road map,” an approach that he and Olmert are said to have discussed before they were elected.
Next week’s talks are being coordinated with U.S. president-elect Barak Obama, according to reports.
Olmert and Brown also will discuss the Syrian track in the wake of British Foreign Secretary David Miliband’s visit to Damascus last month. Olmert will meet with Miliband in London next week to hear about his talks in the Syrian capital.
The issue of Iran’s nuclear program is also likely to be on the agenda, as well as bilateral issues, including the labelling of produce from Jewish West Bank settlements.
Olmert will visit London for three days.
