One death, injuries to many, and 4,000 persons without shelter is the aftermath of the fire which swept the town Iwia, near Lida. Thursday night.
The firse completely destroyed a large pertion of the town, including four synagogues, the entire business section and the Jewish orphan’s home. The Catholic church and a Mosque were saved.
Death came to one person as a result of heart failure during the fire. Troops were despatched to Iwia from Warsaw to guard property. First aid was rushed.
