One Jew was killed and four buried in wreckage today when an explosion destroyed a building at nearby Offenbach, shaking the whole town. It was reported that the disaster was caused by the efforts of an inhabitant to commit suicide with illuminating gas. The destroyed building belonged to a Jewish family named Goldschmidt, who lived in it with other Jews. It was reported that one of them turned on the gas to commit suicide, thus causing the explosion.
