One of the largest Jewish cities in the West Bank will not fall within the security fence being put up by Israel. The predominantly secular Ariel, population 13,000, and nearby settlements Emmanuel and Kedumim will instead be surrounded by their own security fences, an idea that has drawn charges of “ghettoization” from right-wing Israeli politicians.
