One of every three surviving Jews in Europe wants to leave, one wants to stay and one is undecided and is waiting to see what the future will bring, Dr. Joseph C. Hyman, executive vice-chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee, last night told 500 persons attending a meeting of the Western States Regional Committee of the J.D.C.
Dr. Hyman also disclosed that $60,000,000 will have been spent this year for the relief and rehabilitation of Europe’s Jews and that $100,000,000 would be needed for the organization’s program next year. Judge Max C. Sloss was elected honorary chairman of the newly-formed regional group, while Max Firestein was named chairman and Lloyd Dinkelspiel, chairman of its executive committee.
