M. B. Heller, a one-time locksmith, who has just been graduated from the Academy of Red Professors in Moscow, has been appointed the new Chairman of the Bira Bidjan District Executive Committee, which makes him the head of the government in the Bira Bidjan region.
A talking motion picture, depicting the constructive work in Bira Bidjan and the every-day life of the Jewish settlers there is now being made in Bira Bidjan by the White Russian State Cinema Organization, at the special order of the praesidium of the White Russian Central Executive Committee which has taken the Bira Bidjan movement under its patronage.
The film will show not only the constructive achievements, but also the difficulties encountered by the settlers, the havoc caused by the torrential rains, the floods, the shortage of housing, etc., and how the difficulties are being overcome.
