Of the 812 Jews, ninety-seven are taking medical courses and forty-six law courses. The Nazi law provides that “non-Aryan” students may be admitted to German universities under a numerus clausus of one and a half per cent as compared with the number of “Aryan” students.

The fact that the number of Jewish students registered this semester is much less than one per cent denotes that the Jews of Germany have abandoned hope of becoming professionals. The sixteen Jewish students still attending German universities were all admitted to the universities before Hitler assumed power.
