The only Jew in the Bavarian Diet is a member of the Nationalist Party, writes the official organ of the Bavarian Section of the German Peasants’ League.
“It sounds like a joke,” it proceeds, “but it is a fact. Of course, he is not a Jew by religion, he is only a Jew by race; but we have always understood that the Nationalist doctrine takes into consideration the race and not the religion. We refer to Deputy Count Fischler von Treuberg. There is no question that the family Fischler is of Jewish blood. If the Nationalist Party is not quite sure about the fact, it might look up Gotha, where it will find the Fischler family among the aristocracy of Germany, with clear indication of its Jewish origin and its Jewish relations.”
