Operators of hotels and tourist camps advertising “selected” or “restricted” clientele will be blackballed by the Ontario Department of Travel and Publicity, the third annual Ontario Tourist Conference was informed. J.E. Wright, director of the Department, said to sanction such establishments would be contrary to recent legislation outlawing property or employment restrictions based on race, color or creed.
Establishments discriminating on the basis of race, color or creed will be cut out of a $100,000 advertising campaign carried by newspapers and periodicals through most of the U.S. and including a New York television show, sponsored by the Ontario Department of Travel and Publicity to attract U.S. tourists to Ontario resorts.
