The charge that Ontario public school teachers are trying to convert Jewish children to the Christian faith was made by Rabbi Abraham L. Feinberg, addressing a conference of the Central Region of the Canadian Jewish Congress.
“In some instances,” Rabbi Feinberg said, “teachers have apparently not been able to resist the opportunity offered by the program for religious education in public schools to propagandize Christian doctrine among their Jewish students who do not leave classes during religious instruction. A program of religious instruction which encourages such activity should be abolished,” he added.
