Eleven asbestos structures that will serve as a temporary hostel for students at the Mount Scopus campus of the Hebrew University were officially opened by university president Avraham Harman. The buildings will accommodate 84 students but will be restricted to Israelis because conditions are considered to be too rough for students from abroad. Overseas students will be accommodated in a second group of asbestos structures which is expected to be completed in October. The hostels contain a bathroom with hot water for every three rooms and a kitchen with gas cooker and refrigerator. There is no central heating. Transportation between Mt. Scopus and Jerusalem is still irregular.
