Charlotte Berner, the opera singer who disappeared from her pension yesterday after leaving a letter to Minister of Propaganda Goebbels in which she said, “I have no more strength to live in my own Fatherland,” was seen at a restaurant later in the day, and arrested. The singer is said to have appeared with the Chicago Opera Company in 1924. She is a native of Leipzig, and has recently been dismissed from singing engagements because of the ban on Jewish artists.
