Varying views on the Palestine situation are voiced in Paris newspapers today.

Le Temps, expresses disbelief that Italy was responsible for disorders in Palestine.

Describing the outbreak as “civil war” and calling the situation tragic, the paper says Great Britain must make a powerful effort to pacify the population.

The editorial takes issue with Malcolm MacDonald’s statement in the House of Commons for the British Colonial Office yesterday that the Arab Supreme Committee had tried to restrain the more extreme elements among the Arabs.

The present Arab movement has “assumed the most violent form,” Le Temps says.

The newspaper, L’Oeuvre, on the other hand, charges that Rome and Berlin were behind the disorders in Palestine and warned that the events in the Holy Land endangered French-controlled Syria.

Sheikh Arslan and the Grand Mufti Arab leaders, obey orders from Italy, the paper declares.
