Both the Orthodov and Liberal congregations of Oradeamare, formerly known as Grosswardein, Transylvania, have refused to cooperate in the raising of funds for the Keren Hayesod. The congregations have declined to lend synagogue and temple facilities for a Keren Hayesod delegation which is now touring Transylvania, seeking funds.
The action of the two communities has called forth a wide controversy in Transylvania and Banat. The Orthodox Kehillah Board of Temesvare telegraphed to the Orthodox community of Oradeamare, voicing a sharp protest. The Temesvare Kehillah reminded the community of Oradeamare of the sympathy displayed by Jews everywhere when the Jewish population of Oradeamare was the victim of anti-Jewish excesses in December 1927.
