Herman Moffman, Grand Master of the Independent Order of Brith Abraham, announced today that he had proclaimed a thirty-day mourning period among members in protest of the “ruthless murder” of Jews in Nazi dominated Europe.
Mr. Hoffman, who is president of the New York County Criminal Court Bar Association, said 400 lodges with 100,000 members will join in the observance. He also said a telegram has been sent to President Roosevelt urging him to make a special broadcast to the world “if these ruthless murders do not cease.”
