About 80 delegates from various Jewish student organizations in New York City, including representatives from City College and Hunter, were present at a conference last Saturday night in Irving Plaza Hall, Irving Place and 15th Street, which decided to organize a “Jewish Students’ League” as a department of the “Yiddish Culture Society of America” to promote the study of Yiddish literature among Jewish students.
Leon Rabbiner, graduate student of philosophy of Columbia University was chairman of the gathering, which was addressed by well known Yiddish writers and pedagogues, among them A. Glantz-Leiles and B. Z. Goldberg of the Day. Dr. A. Shatzky of the Vilna Yiddish Scientific Institute, L. Lehrer, Israel Knox and Jacob Levine.
