The second District Sabbath Organization, under the auspices of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, was formed in the Bronx section of New York City on Monday evening, December 22, at the Congregation Torah Moshe, Prospect Avenue and Macy Place, Bronx. Representatives of many of the largest synagogues in the Bronx were present and a temporary organization was formed, with Rabbi David S. Savitz as chairman and Rabbi Eliezer D. Perl as secretary. The various synagogue representatives will gather lists of the members of their respective congregations who have their places closed on the Sabbath, so that work may be started in that district in trying to place the Sabbath observing unemployed.
