The first regular vocational courses to be conducted by the ORT in Poland since the end of the war have been established in Cracow and Lublin, according to a report received by the American ORT Federation.
The Lublin courses are dressmaking and machine shop practice and the Cracow courses are dressmaking, artificial flower manufacture, glove making, radio technique and automobile driving. In Piotrolesia, Lower Silesia, a farm cooperative has been established. For the new courses, for children’s workshops in Jewish elementary schools in Lodz, Bialystok and Czenstochowa, and for an electrical school and watchmaker’s course in Warsaw, as well as for individual artisans, ORT has shipped tools and machines from European countries, Canada and the United States.
