Ort Permitted to Send Machinery and Tools to Jewish Artisans in Poland and France

The Soviet Embassy in Canada has informed Louis Fitch, president of the Canadian ORT, that his organization will be permitted to send and transport, on Russian ships, tools and machinery for Jewish artisans in liberated Poland, addressed to the Jewish Relief Committee in Lublin which is headed by Dr. Emil Sommerstain, it was announced today by the Central Board of the World ORT Union here.

The Board also announced that as a result of an interview that Dr. Aron Syngalowski, Vice president of the ORT Union, had with Paul Dautry, the French Minister of Reconstruction in Paris, the Emergency Committee of the ORT Union in New York has received permission from the French authorities to ship tools and machinery to Paris and Algiers for needy artisans. These machines will be bought in Canada and the “United Jewish Refugee and War Relief Agencies” in Canada is participating in financing the project, the announcement said.
