Acting upon its decision to respond to the cablegram appealing for a fund of $5,000 for supplying seeds to hundreds of Jewish farmers in the ORT cooperative agricultural colonies in Poland and Bessarabia, the Women’s American ORT in executive session at the home of Mrs. William Lowenstein yesterday decided to remit $1,000 toward that fund.
At the office of the Women’s American ORT, 200 Fifth avenue, Mrs. Florence R. Dolowitz, president of the organization said yesterday that there were over 100 cooperative agricultural colonies established by ORT in Poland, Roumania and Bessarabia in such a plight. “The recent occurences in Germany,” Mrs. Dolowitz said, “have made it necessary for ORT to apply its constructive relief program to the needy Jews in that country.”
For the purpose of raising the balance of the fund of $5,000, the Women’s American ORT has planned a dinner dance and card party aboard of S. S. Majestic Thursday evening, April 12.
