The Rabbinical Alliance of America, representing Orthodox rabbis, issued a statement protesting against the system introduced by the Jewish Agency, in co-operation with the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, under which no campaign for Israeli institutions can be sanctioned in the United States except by the Agency.
The executive board of the Alliance, the statement said, has decided to ask the Jewish Agency to permit heads of Yeshivas to hold campaigns in this country for religious institutions in Israel. The Agency will also be asked to publish the names of Orthodox organizations and the amounts they have contributed to Israeli institutions.
