The appointment of Oscar M. Lazrus of New York as national chairman of the Combined $1,010,000 Annual Maintenance Campaign of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations and the Hebrew Union College, was announced today by Dr. Maurice N. Eisendrath, president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, and Dr. Nelson Glueck of Cincinnati, president of the Hebrew Union College.
Mr. Lazrus succeeds Roger W. Straus as national finance chairman. He is a trustee of the New York Federation of Jewish Philanthropies; one of the founders of the New York United Jewish Appeal; a member of the National Council of the Joint Defense Appeal of the American Jewish Committee and the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, and is active in many other organizations.
