“I often dreamed in my cell of freedom and when the day came unexpectedly, I trembled like a child. I lost my nerve. Now, I want to walk in the country and sleep, sleep, sleep.” These were the words of Oscar Slater when he arrived here from Clasgow following his release from prison after serving eighteen years of a life sentence on the charge of the murder of a Glasgow woman.
Slater who has always maintained than he was not guilty; announced that he would set to work at once to establish his innocence of the murder, of which he asserts he knew absolutely nothing. He intends to keep out of the limelight and laughed at the idea of entering the movies with an American company.
It was announced in the House of Commons yesterday that, if Parliament passes the necessary legislation, the Slater case would be referred to the Court of Criminal Appeal.

A conference of the seven Jewish organizations operating in Hilizabeth was ### at the Charity Hall yesterday for the purpose of discussing the organization of the Jewish Welfare Bumil for the entire city. Representatives of the Young Men’s and Young Woman’s Eebrew Association. United Hebrew Charities. Auxiliary of the U.## Deburail Society Council of Jewish Woman ## and gamely Chesed Earfal Society, were present El. S. Harsil, president of the local “Y” was elected chairman, and Harry Lebau, Executive Director of the “Y” Secretary of the conference.
The conference decided to call the miss meeting in December.
The Trenton Young Men’s and Young Women’s Hebrew Association will inaugurate its first financial campaign in give years early in January, it was announced by Isaac Goldberg chairman of the Board of Directors of the association.
The campaign was postponed from this week to permit Trenton Jewry’s participation in the $400,000 municipal drive for a War Memorial in honor of Ugention’s dead in the World War.
A maintenance fund of approximately $75,000 will be sought in conjunction with the celebration of the south anniversary of the establishment of the Hebrew Association in Trenton.
Many prominent Jews of Trenton, including United States District Attorney Philip ## were active in the War Memorial Drive, ? exceeded its goal by approximately $75,000.
