Satisfied with the evidence presented, Magistrate Strike yesterday held Jean Tissot, suspended detective, for trial by jury on the charge of criminally libeling A. J. Freiman, president of the Canadian Zionist Organization and local department store owner.
Previously, U. J. Vincent, counsel for Tissot, had argued that Freiman was attacked not as an individual merchant but as a leader of the Canadian Zionist part of “the world organization seeking control over human activities” in Canada and other countries.
Tissot’s activity was part of an anti-Jewish campaign the world over, Vincent declared.
