Otto H. Kahn will visit Palestine shortly, according to a statement made here by M. Golinkin, head of the Palestine Opera Company, upon his arrival from the United States.
In a statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency representative, Mr. Golinkin said that Mr. Kahn was especially interested in the Palestine Opera, which he intends to support if he finds it satisfactory.
Reorganization of the opera company, particularly the orchestra, is planned by its head preparatory to forthcoming performances.
A committee to secure funds for the Palestine Opera Company was created in New York, Mr. Golinkin stated. Lawrence Levine is chairman of the committee, Joseph Weiss, treasurer, and Abraham Goldberg, secretary. The committee undertook to raise $10,000 annually and advanced to the company a part of this sum, Mr. Golinkin said.
A Rabbinical Assembly, composed of the Orthodox Rabbis of Pittsburgh, was organized for the purpose of deciding on questions of Jewish law and to consider Jewish problems confronting Pittsburgh Jewry.
The members of the Rabbinical Assembly are Rabbis M. S. Sivitz, E. W. Kochin, S. B. Friedman. W. Leiter, J. J. Hurvitz and M. A. Levin. The chairman for the month of July is Rabbi M. S. Sivitz.
The Maccabee Sport Club of Boro Park, Brooklyn, won the championship of the Jewish Soccer League. The Arista F. C. was second with IS points, 5 below the champions while the “C” team of the Hakoah A. C. and the “A” team of the American Hebrews A. C. were third with 16 points each. This is the first season of the Jewish Soccer League, the present members having separated from the Hebrew American League.
