The Mayor of Vilna was overruled by the numnicipal committee on education of the City Council concerning his desire to grant recognition to Yiddish literatiure.
The City Council established a prize recently to go to the best literary work in Polish. Upon representations by the Jewish residents, the Mayor promised a prize also for Yiddish literature.The committee rejected this proposal.
