An official announcement issued by the Ozet, society for the settlement of Jews on the land, in the Zaporozhje region, Ukraine, denied rumors that an anti-Jewish pogrom occurred in that region.
The rumors were especially persistent in the districts of Proskuroff and Zhitomir, resulting in inquiries from there of persons having relatives in the Zaporozhje region. The Ozet termed the spreading of these rumors a provocation, as nothing happened in the region to justify them.
