Because of the government’s changed attitude towards the lishentzky the Central Ozet, society for settling the Jews on the land, today announces that the second All-Soviet convention of the Ozet scheduled for July 3rd has been postponed until November. The reason for the change is that the Ozet now finds itself in the position of having prepared for its convention a project of new by-laws with extreme restrictions against the lishentzky.
In view of the government’s attitude such limitations would mean going against the government’s policy. Today’s announcement explains that since the Central Executive Committee of the government is sending a special commission to the small towns to investigate conditions there it is advisable to wait until the convention of the Comzet, the government department for the settling the Jews on the land, when the commission will submit its report.
It is pointed out that the Ozet will then be better able to orientate its plans.
