A modern $1,000,000 lumber mill for the manufacture of citrus boxes as well as doors, window sashes and other standard lumber products is being established in Israel under the sponsorship of the Palestine Economic Corporation, it was announced today by Robert Szold, chairman of the board of the P.E.C.
Capital for the new enterprise originates in the United States and Israel. At least 60 percent of the mill’s total output will consist of crates for citrus products. Israel’s leading export commodity. The mill, which is scheduled to be completed by the middle of 1953, will be located on a 30-acre site south of Haifa.
