The painting, “The Statute of Kalisz,” by the Polish artist, Arthur Schick, was exhibited yesterday at the headquarters of the Jewish Art Society here.

The opening of the exhibition took place in the presence of August Zaleski, Foreign Minister, and personal representatives of President Moscicki, and Marshal Pilsudski. The painting depicts the scenes accompanying the grant of the famous privilege to the Jews of Poland by King Boleslaw the Pious in the Thirteenth Century. On the canvas there are other scenes in the history of Polish Jews since that date.

The painting was previously exhibited in Paris, where it attracted wide attention. Recently it was shown to Marshal Pilsudski at his home, when he expressed the wish to acquire the painting, adding that the artist has contributed greatly toward a Polish-Jewish understanding.
