Palestine Association for Afforestation Formed in Jerusalem

A Palestine branch of the Men of Trees Organization was formed here with H. C. Luke, Civil Secretary of the Palestine Government, as presidents.

Government officials and leaders of all communities were present at the organization meeting held here with Mr. Luke presiding. Richard Barbe Baker, founder of the organization which has branches throughout the world, in his address stated that many persons in England, America and else where are interested in the afforestation of Palestine. He is undertaking to raise £10,000 for tree planting in the country.

The vice-presidents of the newly formed association are the Grand Mufti, the Jerusalem Mayor, the Anglican bishop, the Latin Patriarch, Dr. Judah L. Magnes, Chancellor of the Hebrew University, and Col. Frederick H. Kisch of the Zionist Executive. The committee includes officials in the Palestine government, Arabs and Jews. The High Commissioner, Sir John Chancellor, is patron of the association.
