The authorities yesterday ordered the Greek steamer Astir to leave the port of Haifa with its cargo of 641 Jewish refugees, including 200 women and 50 children. The vessel had been brought to the port by a coastal patrol of British police under suspicion of trying to land the refugees illegally.
