Appreciation for the loyal services rendered by the employees of the Palestine Electric Corporation–“often in the face of considerable danger”–was expressed here by Lord Herbert Samuel, presiding at the corporation’s 25th annual general meeting. He emphasized that the corporation’s services continued uninterruptedly last year, “despite the disturbances.”
The number of consumers subscribing to the firm’s services, Lord Samuel reported, increased during the year by more than 20 percent while additional power houses were set up in Haifa and other parts of the country. A sum of $400,000 has been set aside by the firm as a reserve fund for special contingencies. Sir Harry Railing, the Marquees of Reading and James Rothschild, retiring directors, were reelected.
