Gifts and testamentary bequests totaling $389,000 were received by Palestine Endowment Funds, Inc., New York, during the past fiscal year, bringing the aggregate funds at present to over $1,000,000, it was announced by Robert Szold at a meeting of the board of trustees here.
The meeting elected Robert Szold, a founder of PEF in 1922 and its president for the past two decades, as chairman of PEF. Julius Weiss, hitherto vice-president, was elected president. Aaron Baroway, who has been treasurer of PEF for many years, was elected vice-president and treasurer. Mrs. Eli Ginzberg was elected secretary.
Palestine Endowment Funds, Inc., is a non-profit organization administered entirely by volunteers. It is a vehicle of personal giving devoted exclusively to charitable, scientific, educational and religious purposes in Israel. Contributions to PEF in the form of donations, bequests, and endowments over the past three decades have exceeded $3,000,000. Among PEF’s beneficiaries in Israel were medical and other scientific projects, hospitals, schools and universities, youth education, industrial development projects and many others.
