A Torah scroll written by hand by Palestine’s foremost rabbis and kabbalists for the special purpose of commemorating the thousands of Torahs burnt and destroyed by the Nazis in Europe was presented today to the Great Synagogue. The scroll represents many months’ labor on the part of the devout scribes.
Addressing the ceremony of presentation, Rabbi Avigdor Amiel said that “as the Torah is eternal, so are the Jewish people, and no enemy can destroy them.” The ceremony was marked with a memorial service for the Jewish and Allied victims fallen in the war.
