The Palestine government is continuing the unsuccessful efforts of the international Wailing Wall Commission to arrive at a settlement of the Wailing Wall dispute. While it is understood that the Jews are prepared to unconditionally recognize the Moslems’ rights to the Wall if the Moslems in turn will recognize the right of the Jews to worship undisturbedly at the Wall, the attitude of the Grand Mufti’s group is still unchanged.
In its last two days in the country, the Wailing Wall Commission made last minute efforts to reach an amicable accord on the Wailing Wall issue but to no avail. A number of secret sessions between the chairman of the Commission, Eliol Loefgren, and Moslem leaders proved futile because the Moslems remained adamant in denying the Jews the right to worship at the Wall.
