A petition signed by 253,000 adult Jews and 59,000 children in Palestine, asking for urgent Allied action to save the Jews in occupied Europe, was presented to High Commissioner Sir Harold MacMichael today by Isaac Ben Zvi, president of the Jewish National Council, The signatures were gathered during a special day of mourning last month when tables were set up in the streets of the principal cities.
Copies of the petition were also cabled to the Jewish Agency office in London and to the World Jewish Congress in New York, with the request that the British and American Governments be notified of its contents and urged to take action as suggested in the petition.
