Sir John Chancellor, High Commissioner of Palestine, is due to leave the country at the end of the month for his annual vacation. With the question as to who will substitute for him uppermost in the mind of the public, the Hebrew daily, “Ha’ Aretz,” suggests that H. C. Luke, chief secretary and acting High Commissioner during last Summer’s riots while Sir John was absent on his vacation, will return.

Unofficially, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learns, that this is highly improbable and that another government officer, perhaps S. S. Davis, Palestine treasurer, will administer the government in the absence of the High Commissioner.
