Palestine is treated as the major postwar-failure of British foreign policy in “Reprieve from War,” a book by Lionel Gelber, former political adviser to the Jewish Agency in the United States, published today by Macmillan. Mr. Gelber also touches on Jewish aspects of the German problem.
Mr. Gelber acted as liaison officer for the Jewish Agency with the United Nations Secretariat and for a number of delegations at the U.N. during the proceedings which led to the establishment of Israel. He was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford, a lecturer at the University of Toronto and an officer in the Royal Canadian Airforce.
