A tract of not less than 500 dunams will be purchased in Palestine as national property at the disposal of Jewish families exiled from Germany and immigrants from other countries, it was decided yesterday at a Palestine land redemption conference at the Hotel Pennsylvania.
The parley unanimously voted to form the Palestine Land Redemption Council, which will cooperate with the Jewish National Fund and raise $25,000 for land purchase.
Four hundred delegates, representing nearly three hundred Jewish fraternal societies, congregations and mutual aid agencies, attended the session, which was presided over by former Congressman Nathan D. Perlman, vice-president of the American Jewish Congress.
LAND NECESSITY EMPHASIZED
Dr. Israel Goldstein, president of the Jewish National Fund of America, emphasized the importance of land to the Jewish people in his address.
