Secretary of State James F. Byrmes today declared at a press conference here that the Palestine question is not on the agenda of the conference of foreign ministers.
Meanwhile, British Foreign Minister Bevin today received a cable from the Socialist Party in Argentina asking for free Jewish immigration into Palestine and for the abolition of the White Paper.
The London press reports today from Cairo that Raphael Sadovsky, a Palestine Jew who was arrested following the assassination last November of Lord Moyne, British Resident Minister in the Middle East, committee suicide in his cell.
According to the Cairo police, Sadovsky allegedly knew of the plot to assassinate Lord Moyne, but was not involved in it personally. The police say that his testimony will be used at the trial of several alleged Jewish terrorists arrested recently, including men and women in the armed services.
Reports from Palestine received here today state that Emir Abdullah, ruler of Transjordan, was requested by Palestine Arab leaders “to prevent Zionist infiltration into Transjordan.” The request followed a decision of the economic commission of the Arab League to press for prohibition of further sales of land to Jews in Palestine and for “tariff protection of Arab products.”
The internal fight within the New Zionist Organization in England came to an end today when a party “court” settled the conflict and ordered the re-establishment of unity in the ranks of the organization.
