Palestine, which is one of the few countries where no income tax is levied, may have to fall into line with the rest of the world in this respect, according to a report published by the Eastern News Agency here. One of the recommendations of the O’Donnell Financial Commission, which has been studying the financial situation in Palestine, the report says, is the imposition of income tax on all incomes over £200 a year.
Another recommendation made by the O’Donnell Commission, it says, is the closing down of railway routes which do not pay and replacing them by better roads running frequent motor-bus services under Government control, which the O’Donnell Commission believes will result in a big revenue.
