Palestinian children participated in a Hamas demonstration demanding the release of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. During Wednesday’s protest in the Gaza Strip, the children carried photographs of relatives jailed in Israel. The Palestinian Authority’s minister for prisoner affairs said this week that Israel and the Palestinians had reached a stalemate on the release of prisoners, and that international intervention is needed. Israel has agreed to release some 350 prisoners, but has ruled out releasing any prisoners who killed Israelis or are members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
