Palestinian gunmen opened fire on a Jewish settlement near the West Bank city of Nablus. Israeli troops responded with machine gun fire in the firefight, which began during the night and lasted into the afternoon. No deaths from the Israeli-Palestinian conflict have been reported in nearly three days.
