The provincial government of Sastatchian has introduced into the local legislature bill of rights which would bar racial and religious discrimination.
The bill, which is sponsored by the Cooperative Commonwealth Party, the majority party in the province, has received the support of opposition leaders, although it has been criticized for certain comissions. Penalties are provided for violations of specific prohibitions of discriminatory practices.
A similar bill is now being studied in the Manitoba legislature. It was introduced by a Jewish legislator, M.A. Gary of Winnipeg.
