“The fate of all Jews in Germany transcends the fate of any individual. Jewish leaders should not be deterred by their hostages. Jews of German descent in America may well emulate the example of Masaryk who refused to be restrained, even when his daughter was seized by the militarists and sentenced to death during the war. The hostages in Germany should not prevent the Jews from exposing the brutality of Nazi-ism.”

### ready strong in this country as a result of many acts of violence on this side of the border, and intensified by the assassination of Professor Lessing, a refugee from Nazi Germany, will be expressed tomorrow in a series of demonstrations to be held by the Social Democratic party.

The entire Czech press, including the Prager Presse, Government organ, has been bitterly denunciatory of the Nazis in condemnation of the slaying of a refugee on Czechoslovakian soil and sharply critical of the tactics of the German press in publishing inciting articles against Professor Lessing which were tantamount to invitations to Nazis to hunt him down. The Voelkischer Beobachter, Hitler’s own newspaper, published one of these inflammatory articles on Professor Lessing last Sunday.
