What virtually amounts to an anti-Semitic campaign attempting to exploit the fact that some of those involved in the “Gazette du Franc” bankruptcy affair are Jewish, has been launched by the “Ami du Peuple,” published by the French perfume manufacturer, Francois Coty.
The paper warns the “good French” against “recent date French,” and is especially violent against Professor Victor Bache, president of the League of Human Rights. The paper lists the names of those involved in the “Gazette du Franc” affair who are Jews and declares: “Thus the simple French are robbed.”
The “Action Francaise” has joined Coty’s paper in the attack, making allusion to the Jewish origin of some involved in the bankruptcy affair.
The most striking fact in connection with this development is the assertion made recently in the German anti-Semitic press that M. Coty is a Jew or of Jewish origin, the scion of an Alsatian Jewish family.
