The second anti-Semitic attack within a fortnight in Paris occurred today when a crowd of Royalists attacked a group of Jewish war veterans who were placing a wreath on the memorial plaque outside of the town hall. The Royalists, armed with sticks, rushed at the Jewish war veterans who were defended by the crowd witnessing the ceremony.
The Jewish war veterans were defended by a large number of Christians in the audience. The clash led to a severe brawl in which a number of the Royalists were badly beaten. Some of the Royalist ringleaders were arrested by the police but were later released on the request of the Union of Jewish Soldiers.
Two weeks ago six members of the Royalist League ran through the Carreau du Temple, the Jewish quarter of Paris, shouting “Down with the Jews” and distributed among passersby copies of L’Action Francaise, the Royalist organ.
