The organization committee of the Jewish World Conference today adopted a resolution calling for the convening of a world Jewish congress in August, 1935. The decision advocates that the forthcoming congress create a World Jewish League, resembling in structure the League of Nations. The new body will have a council, an assembly and a permanent secretariat, similar to the league division. The committee’s recommendation undoubtedly will receive support of the entire conclave, observers stated.
The conference boycott committee resolved to summon a world Jewish boycott conference, to be held in London on October 6, to take steps to coordinate the world boycott movement against Nazi Germany.
Samuel Untermyer, leader of the American boycott movement, is expected to attend the London conference.
The entire day was devoted to committee meetings, at which questions of paramount importance were being thrashed out and policies formulated. The conference itself did not meet today.
A resolution urging the continuation of the boycott against Germany, but omitting reference to the Palestine-German transfer agreement, severely criticized yesterday by Rabbi Stephen S. Wise, was agreed upon today at a session of the conference boycott committee.
